Now we’re officially in 2022 (also the year of the tiger in Chinese New Year), it’s a chance to look at the year ahead, and your washroom is no exception!
Specifically, now is the time to ask whether your current facilities are up to scratch or not, whether this be an office washroom or school toilets. As leading commercial washroom installers here in the UK, we always like to start the year by inspiring our clients as to what can be achieved when they undertake a commercial washroom installation with us.
So, if your washroom is giving off more 2002-dated and drab vibes rather than 2022 spectacular and modern vibes, you’re in the right place! Here are some of the top washroom trends we predict will be a big hit or a continuing theme alike during the next 12 months.

Automatic Sensor Taps
Hand hygiene remains at the forefront of washroom trends for 2022 and beyond, and this extends into the type of taps used within a washroom since some promote hand hygiene better than others.
We normally associate taps with something that cleans our hands, but have you ever stopped to think that by touching the tap to activate and then cease water flow, you are essentially reinfecting your hands again by making physical contact with the same surface?
Studies have shown that the average tap contains 127,000 worth of bacteria per cm2. If that already sounds frightful enough, the study was carried out on a regular household tap, rather than a commercial tap which likely encounters far more pairs of hands per day, especially if the washroom or bathroom is in a busy location.
Automatic sensor taps, therefore, offer the best solution for commercial washrooms, as they require no physical touch to activate or cease water flow. Automatic sensor taps are controlled by an infra-red beam, and when hands are placed in front of this beam water is dispensed for a pre-determined number of seconds. This mechanism differs greatly from traditional taps, which must be manually turned to start the flow of water, and then touched again to cease the water flow, thus contaminating the hands that have just been washed by re-touching the same tap.
As an added bonus, automatic sensor taps also help to save water too, making your building more environmentally friendly.
Our Additional Covid-19 Washroom Services
For any businesses that are keen to maintain a Covid safe environment, or improve hand hygiene in general, did you know we provide additional services to help you keep your washrooms or workplace safe and hygienic?
Our hand sanitiser dispensers are both free-standing and touch-free and can be placed in any area of your building such as in entrance areas to help ensure good hand hygiene. In addition, hand sanitiser stations are ideal whereby handwashing facilities may not be immediately accessible and will ensure people can sanitise their hands without contaminating additional surfaces.
As well as making customised hand sanitiser stations, we can also supply your company with Covid safety screens, signage and much more. Check out our Covid safety products to learn more about our full range of services.
Quality Public Washroom Experience
Featured Project: Leicester Racecourse washroom refurbishment
For any business or organisation that has a washroom used by the general public in industries such as retail, transport, offices, healthcare or hospitality, the quality of your washroom says a lot about your business as a whole.
More than ever, people expect that a washroom will be a pleasant environment that is both clean and safe to use. The foundations of which begin with the washroom itself, which is why it’s important to update your washroom if it is no longer in a presentable state, nor provides a satisfactory experience for your patrons.
As washroom designers and installers ourselves, we’d be more than happy to talk through your requirements including any pain points you have with your existing washroom.
Let’s also not forget that a lack of accessibility can also diminish the experience your washroom provides for any patrons with additional needs. It’s essential to ensure that everyone feels welcome in your washroom, so if that’s not currently the case then this should be something that needs to be addressed in 2022.

Colourful Washroom Cubicles
White and grey bathrooms let alone washrooms have been a trend for quite some time now, and we anticipate neutrals will continue to rule the roost in 2022 and beyond.
However, for any businesses or organisations wanting to inject some personality into their washrooms then pops of colour are the way to go. Our washroom cubicles are available in an incredible 52 different colours, from striking neon tones to cool and sophisticated neutrals, and even wood effect tones. Therefore, colour is definitely worth considering especially if you want your washroom to feel on brand, or even match a younger clientele, with our school washroom installations being one of our most popular services.
If you’re unsure what colour cubicle would work with your installation, we offer a free consultation plus a full design service. You can also see a preview of each of the shades that our cubicles can be manufactured in by downloading our brochure, which you’ll find at the end of this post.
Luxury Wall & Floor Finishes
Gone are the days of utilitarian white square tiles, yellow strip lighting and squeaky doors in washrooms. In today’s world, the admiration for luxury bathrooms within our homes has now been replicated within washrooms too, especially in regards to the wall and floor finishes.
Best of all, our washroom walls and floors are always made from materials that are fully compliant for the environment they will be based within, yet can give the appearance of a higher grade material that may be too expensive or impractical to actually use.
As an example, we offer a range of safety flooring options for washrooms, and our 34 colour options include the likes of dove slate, gypsum, blue quartz, classic oak, and flagstone grey. Therefore, washroom owners will benefit from the look of a luxury material, while retaining health and safety compliance, all without any of the hefty cost associated with the real thing!
Some of the luxury wall and floor effect finishes we can achieve for you include:
- Acrylic
- Marble
- Porcelain
- Slate
- Stone
- Wood
As we also design and install vanity units and sanitaryware, we can work with you to achieve a look that’s ultra high-end. For the likes of offices being refurbished, retail units or hospitality venues especially, luxury washroom looks are becoming ever more popular.
